Epic Book

Epic! is a subscription-based reading and learning platform designed for children in the United States. Geared towards kids aged 12 and under, it provides access to a vast library of books and educational videos. The platform is accessible across both desktop and mobile devices, offering convenience and flexibility to users.

Established in 2013 by Suren Markosian and Kevin Donahue, Epic! was officially launched in 2014. The platform gained traction quickly, attracting a significant user base with its engaging content and interactive features. In July 2021, Indian educational technology company Byju’s made headlines by acquiring Ep- ! in a deal valued at $500 million, marking a significant milestone in the platform’s journey.

However, recent financial challenges have cast a shadow over Ep-!’s future. On January 25, 2024, lenders initiated bankruptcy proceedings against Byju’s, the parent company of Ep- !, as part of efforts to address outstanding loans. Subsequently, on February 1, 2024, Byju’s U.S. division filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware. Despite these hurdles, Byju’s remains committed to resolving financial obligations, aiming to secure approximately $200 million to address immediate liabilities and sustain operational functions.
