Yumna Zaidi’s journey in the entertainment world began with her role as a supporting character in the ARY Digital domestic drama “Thakan” in 2012. She then went on to take on lead roles in several television series, showcasing her acting prowess. Her roles included the melodramatic “Khushi Ek Roag” and the romantic drama “Teri Raah Main Rul Gai,” both in 2012. Early Career

Her first foray into screen acting was a supporting role in ARY Digital’s 2012 domestic drama “Thakan.” She swiftly followed this with a leading role in the melodrama “Khushi Ek Roag.” Her skills then led her to Urdu 1’s “Teri Raah Main Rul Gai,” where she shared the screen with Samiya Mumtaz and Sami Khan, portraying the character of Maryam.

Further Success

She continued her success with her role in Hum TV’s “Yeh Raha Dil” in 2017, where she acted opposite Ahmed Ali. In the series, Zaidi portrayed Hayat, a character whose mother had passed away, and her father had abandoned her at a young age. Her on-screen chemistry with Ali was well-received, earning them a Best On-screen Couple nomination at the Hum Awards. Later, she signed up for Kashif Nisar’s directorial “Pinjra.” In the same year, she took on the challenging role of Sila, a victim of sexual harassment in Bee Gul’s directed “Dar Si Jaati Hai Sila,” starring alongside Noman Ijaz and Saman Ansari. Her performance received praise from critics, with The News International describing it as “believable from beginning till the end.”

Recent Works

From 2018 to 2019, Yumna Zaidi continued to impress audiences with her roles. She appeared in “Pukaar” as Samra, the widow of a feudal lord, and was part of 7th Sky Entertainment’s “Dil Kiya Karey,” directed by Mehreen Jabbar. She played the role of Hajra in the social drama “Inkaar” opposite Imran Ashraf and Sami Khan and made a special appearance in Angeline Malik’s anthology series, “Choti Choti Batain.” She further appeared in an extended cameo in “Ishq Zahe Naseeb” and portrayed Raina in the telefilm “Shaadi Impossible.”

Other Works

In 2016, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority issued a show-cause notice to “Udaari.” In response, she expressed:

“It is founded on a social cause, and we should use such drama serials to raise awareness in our society.”

Furthermore, she participated in a runway show for designer Aisha Farid’s collection called “Crystalline” during Hum TV’s Bridal Couture Week. Additionally, she made an appearance on the celebrity comedy talk show “Mazaaq Raat” in 2017.

Personal Life

Yumna Zaidi, originally hailing from Lahore, currently resides in Texas, while her professional commitments frequently take her between Karachi and Lahore. Yumna Zaidi continues to maintain a close-knit family life. Tragically, her father, Zameendar Zaidi, passed away in June 2019, and her mother, Shabana Naheed Zaidi, is a dedicated homemaker. Yumna’s roots trace back to the village of Arif Wala in the Punjab province of Pakpattan. She holds a master’s degree in interior design and has previously worked as a radio jockey and host.
